Practical PM books

Product Management is a unique gig. It’s part art, part science, and totally open ended. Every PM has to develop his or her own style. Fortunately there’s decent swath of history and plenty of approaches and methodologies to pick up from others along the way.

Whether you’re looking to break into the field, are a first timer with no clue what to do, or a seasoned veteran, it’s beneficial to study the wisdom of others, compiled from years of experience, failed projects and achievements.

Here’s my list of Practical PM Books (opens in a new tab), with lessons on project management, customer development, product development, agile methodologies, user/customer/stakeholder psychology, quality and user experience.

Since PMs need to see things from every possible angle, having a breadth of knowledge and opinions also helps. Anything that challenges or opens your mind is every bit as useful as the practical material. For another time I will list my non-vocational PM reads.
